CryptoML'27
Theoretical Challenges in Secure and Aligned AI
Theoretical Challenges in Secure and Aligned AI
Bertinoro (Forlì-Cesena), Italy
The Cryptography and Machine Learning (CryptoML) meeting will bring together researchers from cryptography, learning theory, and modern machine learning to explore the growing interface between these fields.
As machine learning systems become more powerful and widely deployed, questions of trust, security, robustness, verification, privacy, and provenance are moving to the foreground. These questions often fall outside the scope of traditional machine learning methods and venues. Cryptography offers a complementary language of rigorous definitions, explicit threat models, and provable guarantees that can help formulate and address them.
CryptoML will provide a focused forum for communities that investigate closely related problems but do not often meet at the same events. By combining foundational perspectives with emerging practical directions, the meeting aims to foster new connections among cryptographic theory, learning theory, and state-of-the-art machine learning practice.
The meeting will examine how cryptographic ideas can contribute to secure and trustworthy AI systems, and how modern machine learning can motivate new theoretical questions in cryptography and related fields.
Topics may include:
Secure and private learning
Adversarial and robust machine learning
Verification and integrity of AI systems
Watermarking, attribution, and provenance
Technical questions concerning copyright, machine learning, and digital content
Cryptographic tools and protocols for machine learning
Rigorous threat models and guarantees for modern AI
New theoretical problems motivated by contemporary machine learning practice
The program will combine invited lectures, tutorials and perspective talks designed to bridge communities, research presentations, and ample time for informal discussion and collaboration.
